Immune Attack

Description
Today's video games require users to build a complex knowledge base to navigate intricate fictional worlds. Why not build games that require players to learn about science instead? That's the goal of Immune Attack, an ambitious project of the Federation of American Scientists (FAS). Users navigate through a 3-D representation of the human body, fighting germs and restoring a healthy immune system to a sick patient. The video game is a supplemental learning tool that aims to excite students about the subject, while also illuminating general principles and detailed concepts of immunology.

Using the Resource
This video game is focused on immunology and is quite involved. For that reason, we suggest that you use this resource to supplement a course or curriculum on immunology. In that light, Immune Attack can be used as a tool to help students visualize the immune system and see how the various players in it work. This resource will provide students with a virtual 3-D gaming environment that they are likely familiar with, but the interactions and challenges take place in the real world of the human immune system.
This interactive will need to be downloaded to your computer, so be sure to check out the system requirements. FAS has developed a number of teaching resources to support use in the classroom. The Game Guide area of the website provides useful game play information for students and teachers.
