A cool and fun site for teachers, parents, and kids. It has eye-catching graphics and an Internet energy game show called “Watt's That?” Users can click on icons that lead them to pages on various topics, such as fossil fuels, saving energy, super scientists, science projects, and alternative fuel vehicles. For instance, if a student wanted to learn more about how to save energy, he/she would simply click on the “Saving Energy” icon and then be taken to a page that provides him/her with a list of energy saving ideas. In this section, kids can even find out how to start an energy patrol, which monitors classrooms to make sure the lights are turned off when the rooms are vacant, in their own schools. Another page that is of interest to students is “Science Projects.” Students can go to this page to get instructions for doing various science projects, like one for static electricity. They should be cautious when attempting some of these experiments, though. There is no indication of the appropriate age level for these projects and some activities require help from an adult. Kids should first check with a parent or teacher before trying to do these projects. There is also a page titled “Education Resources” for parents and teachers that includes descriptions of various energy education projects, as well as links to science organizations and science sites.**Updated 8/1/01:
Still considered to be an Educational Super Site, Energy Quest is full of information, games, and resources for everything energy related. The “Education Resources” page alone has a wealth of resources for parents and teachers. The entire site is updated regularly.
