Target Audience
Grades -   3-5   6-8

This site is meant to help the user understand electricity and power utilities better. Anyone who ever wondered "how the juice gets to the plug" should check this site out! The site is easy to navigate, with all the key materials and links on the front page. It has sections for teachers, parents and students. The teacher section shows how to use the materials found on the site in your classroom curriculum. Here the activities are organized by grade and topics addressed Safety requirements are also mentioned. The 50 hints for the parents, found in the parents section, are worthwhile. The main part of the site is the student section entitled Home Work Busters. This section consists of nine activities for students. I looked at the time machine, an interactive component that lets the students go back and forth to see the inventions in different time periods. Next, I looked at the Hydro, Nuclear and Fossil Fuel Plants under How Plants Work. This section shows basic plant designs and the functions and processes by which the energy plants produce energy. The Dynamo-Glossary is excellent resource. The course guides, energy plant tours, stickers, and the calculations of kilo watts are also great tools for the elementary and middle school kids and teachers. The only downfall of the site is that it is a little light on aspects of pollution and the environmental impacts. Overall, this site is a good resource for science classrooms and libraries.
