There is something for everyone in this site—teachers, students, and the general public. Part of the site is devoted to descriptions of the Lawrence Hall of Science (LHS) and current exhibits. The largest portion, however, provides information on science education resources for teachers, parents, and children. The main index lists exhibits, public programs, special events, school programs, publications, teacher resources, museum store, weather, hot links, and search. The content of each area is what one would expect and the sum total is a staggering amount of useful information about programs and materials that are available through LHS. It is especially rich in highlighting educational programs and resources for teachers. The hotlinks pages provide access to a broad range of key sites. The intrasite search engine works well. The Kid’s Corner was so interesting that I did not want to leave. This section not only provides interesting information and graphics related to broad areas of biological and physical science and mathematics, but it also has a number of well-designed virtual experiments and instructions for experiments to carry out at home. The site does not contain a great deal of scientific information, except in the Kid’s Corner, but what is presented is accurate and clearly articulated. Navigation was straightforward and it was always possible to find one’s way back from deep within the site. The balance of graphics and text was good, and there were only a few pages in which the length of the text was beyond average on-screen reading comfort.

The original content is still available on this site, however the site design and layout has changed. There are now three main categories: Visit, Participate and Discover. In Visit you will find general information about the LHS and their exhibits. Participate has information on school programs and teacher workshops. The Discover section highlights LHS publications and products. The Kids' Corner is now found by clicking on Play at the top of the page. The site is updated on a regular basis.
