2010 Writing Competition 2010 AAAS/Subaru Essay Writing Competition for K–12 Educators

Science NetLinks is pleased to announce that its seventh annual AAAS/Subaru Essay Writing Competition for K–12 Educators is now open for submissions. This competition offers K–12 teachers the opportunity to share their knowledge on designing science lesson plans and integrating technology into the classroom. The annual competition, open to teachers in the United States and Canada, will honor the five best entries at the 2010 AAAS Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA. The award includes full registration to the meeting, an $800 stipend for travel-related expenses, and a subscription to Science Books & Films.

Ardi Ardipithecus ramidus "Ardi"

The unveiling of Ardi is another important clue in the mystery of where we came from.

Science NetLinks as created a new collection page, including all the free resources provided by Science, to help spotlight this amazing discovery in your classroom. Darwin

On the Origin of Species

November 24, 2009, marks the 150th anniversary of the publication On the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin. Celebrate with your students using this list of Science NetLinks resources focused on Darwin, evolutionary theory, and natural selection. Students will be introduced to the concept of evolution, can explore natural selection in animals like the woolly mammoth, and compare the theories of Jean Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwin.

 
   
Naitonal Day on Writing National Gallery of Writing

The AAAS Writing about Science Gallery is now open for viewing. Stop by and read all the different ways science writing has impacted people.
