Science NetLinks and MarcoPolo have developed a number of Interactive Templates to be incorporated into SNL lessons. The following interactive examples were created using the templates. Content specific information (and images) can be used to create online activities that support and/assess the material being covered in a lesson.
Please take a look at the various examples and incorporate an online student activity when appropriate. The actual online activity will be created in-house, but your suggestions, directions, and text will be used in the creation.
Please contact the SNL Educational Multimedia Developer if you have any questions about the interactives: Suzanne Thurston
Venn Diagram
This interactive makes use of a common educational organizing method. The following 3 examples were created from a student sheet, What Objects Do You See in the Sky?, found in the K-2 Lesson Sky 1: Objects in the Sky. The design/look/function of this interactive may be more appropriate for 3rd grade and up, but don't let that deter you from using it as the design may change over time.
Objects in the Sky (words given)
in this example students are provided with the descriptive words and they are challenged to drag the word into the correct area on the diagram. You'll see there is an area for instructions and the activity title.
Objects in the Sky (IMAGES)
in this example students are provided with the images and they are challenged to drag the images into the correct area on the diagram. You'll see there is an area for instructions and the activity title.
Objects in the Sky (INPUT WORDS)
in this example students are provided with the circles and circle titles, but they come up with the words to place in the diagram.
Image Venn with immedate feedback (NEW) 7-15-04
This sample shows some of the new FEEDBACK functionality of the Venn diagram: 3 circles, feedback ON, images YES.
OTHER INFO
- we can build the diagram with 2 or 3 circles
- students can build the diagram from start to finish...choosing the number circles, titles, and data for diagram
- 1 to 3 open ended questions can be asked at the end
- entire diagram and questions can be printed when complete
Multi Media Gallery
This interactive allows for images/sound and or text to be incorporated into a slide-show format. Students can progress through the content, and be asked questions a long the way, be prompted to take notes, or just view the information. The slideshow can be created so that students are forced to veiw the slide sequencially, or set up to view the slides in any order. Notetaking can be required for each slide or made optional. Hyperlinks can be placed with the text of a slide or at the very end of the show.
