With
your sense of touch, you can learn more about things by the way
they feel. You can feel whether something is bumpy or smooth, slimy
or dry. You can feel different temperatures (like whether your bath
water is hot or cold), the wind blowing on your face, and even the
clothes you are wearing! You often touch things with your fingers
to learn what it feels like, but you can really touch things anywhere
on your body that has skin.
Your sense of touch can also help you know when there might be danger.
For example, when you move too close to the stove or a campfire,
your skin will feel the heat, and you know to step back. What kinds
of things do you like to feel? What do you not like to feel?
